Rangers are reportedly considering a move for former Hearts midfielder Cameron Devlin as Derek McInnes continues to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season.
The Australia international is available on a free transfer after leaving Hearts following the expiry of his contract, making him an attractive option as Rangers look to add further depth to their midfield.
McInnes knows Devlin well from their time together at Tynecastle, and a reunion at Ibrox could now be on the cards.
Free transfer offers Rangers another midfield option
Devlin is searching for a new club after failing to agree fresh terms with Hearts, bringing an end to a five-year spell in Edinburgh.
The 28-year-old made 171 appearances for the club during his time at Tynecastle, earning a reputation as one of the Premiership's most hard-working and consistent midfielders.
Last season he featured 33 times across all competitions, playing an important role as Hearts once again challenged near the top end of the table.
Known for his relentless work rate, strong tackling and ability to break up opposition attacks, Devlin would bring experience and energy to McInnes' midfield options.
Having also represented Australia at international level, he would arrive at Ibrox with plenty of experience despite being available without a transfer fee.
Rangers continue to explore midfield market
While Devlin is firmly on Rangers' radar, he is far from the only midfielder being considered this summer.
The club remain in discussions over a move for Partizan captain Vanja Dragojevic and are also continuing their pursuit of Tromso youngster Jens Hjerto-Dahl as McInnes looks to reshape the heart of his squad.
Rangers have already enjoyed a busy transfer window, bringing in Ross McCrorie, Ivan Pandur, Ben Godfrey, Dan Neil and Lawrence Shankland.
However, further additions are expected before the transfer window closes as McInnes looks to build a squad capable of mounting a sustained challenge for the Scottish Premiership title while also competing strongly in the domestic cups.
Devlin's availability on a free transfer could make him an appealing low-risk addition, particularly given his familiarity with McInnes' methods and his proven experience in Scottish football.
