Rangers have confirmed the return of club legend Allan McGregor, who has been appointed as the club's new lead goalkeeping coach.
The former Scotland international rejoins the Ibrox side as part of Derek McInnes' backroom team, replacing Sal Bibbo ahead of the new season.
It marks McGregor's second spell on the coaching staff after he previously returned to the club on an interim basis following Philippe Clement's departure in February 2025. At that time, he joined Barry Ferguson's temporary coaching team as Rangers looked to steady the ship until a permanent manager was appointed.
Rangers legend returns to Ibrox
Few players boast a stronger connection to Rangers than McGregor.
A product of the club's academy, the former goalkeeper enjoyed two hugely successful spells at Ibrox, establishing himself as one of the finest shot-stoppers in Rangers' history.
Across more than 500 appearances, McGregor helped the club win four Scottish Premiership titles, four Scottish Cups and five Scottish League Cups, while also playing a key role in two memorable European campaigns that ended with runners-up medals.
His performances over the years earned him legendary status among supporters and saw him inducted into the Rangers Hall of Fame.
Experience added to McInnes' coaching team
McInnes has continued to reshape not only his playing squad but also his coaching staff since taking charge, with McGregor's appointment bringing a wealth of experience to the training ground.
Having worked with the first-team goalkeepers during his previous interim spell, the 43-year-old already has experience in the coaching environment at Rangers and is expected to play a key role in the development of the club's current goalkeeping department.
His appointment is another significant addition to McInnes' backroom team as Rangers continue preparations for the new campaign, with the club looking to mount a stronger challenge both domestically and in European competition.
